Law office sues insurer for failure to pay

WINFIELD - The law office of Lefler & Boggs PLLC is suing Perre Thompson Insurance Agency after it claims the insurer failed to pay more than $6,000 it owed.


Theresa Lynn Perre Thompson Nationwide Insurance Agency; Countryside Insurance LLC; Blue Dog Inc.; Lagniappe LLC; Theresa Lynn Perre Thompson; and Joseph Thompson were also named as defendants in the suit.


By a substitution of counsel order entered on March 3, 2013, Lefler & Boggs undertook representation of Theresa Thompson, Joseph Thompson and Perre Thompson Insurance Agency in a Kanawha County civil lawsuit against them, according to a complaint filed May 19 in Putnam Circuit Court.


The matter was settled by the parties and a dismissal order was entered by Judge Louis Bloom on Dec. 9, 2013, according to the suit.


Lefler & Boggs claims throughout the course of representation, it incurred a total of $10,381.33 in fees of expenses and the defendants made two separate payments of $2,000 toward their bill.


The plaintiff submitted a final billing statement on Dec. 17, 2013, showing a remaining balance of $6,381.33, according to the suit.


Lefler & Boggs claims it has attempted to contact the defendants regarding their outstanding balance on numerous occasions, but the defendants have failed to respond to any type of communication.


Lefler & Boggs is seeking judgment in the amount of $6,381.33 with pre- and post-judgment interest. It is being represented by Christopher Lefler.
