Woman says loose Hurricane water meter lid caused injury

WINFIELD -- A Cabell County woman is suing over claims she was injured while mowing a lawn in Hurricane.

Lynne and Lonnie Stanley filed a lawsuit May 2 in Putnam Circuit Court against the City of Hurricane and Carolyn Stanley, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Lynne Stanley was mowing the grass on Carolyn Stanley's property in Hurricane on June 9, when she stepped on the water meter lid and it flipped up and caused injury to her leg. The defendants are accused of negligence and failing to secure the water meter lid.

Lynne and Lonnie Stanley are seeking damages in an amount to fully compensate them.

They are being represented in the case by attorneys G. Wayne Van Bibber and Maggie K. Wall of The Law Offices of G. Wayne Van Bibber & Associates PLLC. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Joseph Reeder.
