Charleston – Jackson Kelly recently was named among the 2014 class of Ceiling Smashers as a “Top 25 Firm for Female Partners."
According to Law360’s Glass Ceiling Report: 2014, Jackson Kelly’s percentage of female partners is one of the 25 highest of nearly 400 firms surveyed.
“Having been in the legal practice for more than three decades, I personally know about the need, and favorable impact, of having a diverse workforce," said Ellen S. Cappellanti, Jackson Kelly’s in-coming CEO and current Deputy Managing Member. "While Jackson Kelly has made significant strides, we continue our efforts to ensure that we not only hire a diverse workforce but that we identify and implement those policies that are conducive to a supportive workplace, providing all employees the opportunity for growth and advancement.
"It not only makes us better lawyers, it makes us better people.”
Law360 surveyed U.S. law firms in early 2014 and received responses from roughly 380 firms with male and female attorney head count information. Only U.S.-based law firms were surveyed, and only head count numbers for U.S.-based attorneys were included in the results.
This report underscores Jackson Kelly’s dedication to diversity and its efforts in supporting its female attorneys. The Firm has been awarded the "Gold Standard Certification" by the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF), a designation for law firms that have integrated women in top leadership positions. In addition, Jackson Kelly was recognized by The National Law Journal for having the second highest percentage of equity partners who are women among the top 250 firms in the country. Last year, seven of the firm’s attorneys were named 2013 Women Leaders in Law and featured in the January issue of The American Lawyer Magazine.
Jackson Kelly is a national law firm with nearly 200 attorneys located in 11 offices throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Colorado and the District of Columbia.
