UNION -- A Monroe County man is suing over claims he was unfairly denied disability benefits.
Jeffrey A. Bumgardner filed a lawsuit July 7 in Monroe Circuit Court against Prudential Insurance Company of America.
According to the complaint, Bumgardner was employed by Johnson & Johnson, who offered long-term disability benefits insured and administered by Prudential, when he applied for disability benefits. Bumgardner says Prudential approved his claim, then arbitrarily cut it off and denied his appeal May 9.
Bumgardner is seeking the benefits due to him and attorney's fees.
He is being represented in the case by attorney John J. Polak of Atkinson & Polak PLLC in Charleston.
