CHARLESTON – A proposed settlement would resolve more than 400 lawsuits against Mountain State University filed by former students after the school closed in 2012.
Details of the settlement, announced last week, include an $8.5 million compensation fund for former MSU students, with that money coming from the former school’s insurance company, the U.S. Department of Education and revenues expected from the sale of MSU’s remaining assets.
The settlement still is pending court approval. A preliminary hearing will take place Oct. 6 in Beckley.
