HUNTINGTON – The National Foundation for Judicial Excellence has elected Marc Williams, managing partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP's West Virginia office, as president.
The organization is a charitable foundation formed to provide training on civil justice issues to state court appellate judges.
NFJE brings together bar associations, law schools, think tanks and other nonprofit organizations that strive to strengthen and preserve the civil justice system. The organization's premier event is an annual symposium where nationally recognized speakers provide balanced educational training on cutting edge issues in the civil litigation arena.
The symposia have covered such important topics as scientific evidence, punitive damages, the intersection of federal and state law, judicial independence, statutory construction, the law of nuisance, the art of judging, and law and technology. Since its inception, the NFJE has provided educational training to more than 1,000 judges from more than 45 states.
Williams has had first chair responsibility for more than 100 jury trials and appeals in his career. His practice focuses on class actions, mass torts, product liability, toxic torts, and commercial litigation.
He serves as president of Lawyers for Civil Justice and is a former president of DRI – The Voice of the Defense Bar.
