STAMFORD, Conn. – A prolific-filing law firm specializing in debt collection harassment cases has helped develop an app that it says could help those who download it make up to $1,500 per robocall or debt collection call.
The app called “Block Calls Get Cash” will document debt collection calls to a user’s Android phone in order to help that user file a Telephone Consumer Protection Act lawsuit.
According to the app’s website, a user will be able to block any callers he or she chooses while taking advantage of a database to figure out who is calling.
The site also boasts that it sets a trap for robocalls, telemarketing calls and debt collection calls.
“When you respond to a few quick Block Calls Get Cash prompts, the trap springs and creates legal documentation of the call,” the site says.
“Then Lemberg Law, the most active consumer firm in the country, reviews the call log. The team evaluates the documentation for violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. If there is a violation of law, you take the caller to court for up to $1,500 per call.”
Lemberg Law’s attorneys represent clients in 24 states and the District of Columbia, including West Virginia.
A search of the federal court database for cases filed by firm principal Sergei Lemberg shows approximately 2,000 cases filed since November 2006, including 29 in August.
Numbers like that have resulted in attorneys at Lemberg’s firm being named the most active in the country from 2011-13.
