Sandblaster blames company for work injury

CHARLESTON – A man is suing over claims he was injured while working as a sandblaster.

William R. Pauley filed a lawsuit July 22 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Rock & Coal Construction Inc. of Sophia, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Pauley was working as a sandblaster for the defendant at its plant in Kemper, Ky., on Aug. 2, 2012, when he was required to manually lift a sandblasting hose and subsequently sustained injuries. The defendant company is accused of negligence in failing to provide a safe workplace for Pauley.

Pauley is represented by attorney Shannon M. Bland of Bland & Bland in Charleston. The case has been assigned to circuit judge Charles E. King.

The case number is Kanawha Circuit Court case 14-C-1333
