MADISON – A Logan County man is suing over claims he was unfairly discharged from employment.
Shane Barker filed a lawsuit Aug. 28 in Boone Circuit Court against Patriot Coal Corporation, Brody Mining LLC and Joseph Athey.
According to the complaint, Barker successfully performed his duties satisfactorily during his employment with the defendant company, but was discharged on March 1 based upon the employer's failure to accommodate a disability or perceived disability.
Baker is seeking more damages, lost wages and benefits, back pay, front pay, interest and attorneys' fees.
He is being represented in the case by attorneys Mark A. Atkinson of Atkinson and Polak in Charleston and Harry M. Hatfield of Hatfield & Hatfield in Madison.
