CHARLESTON -- A Huntington woman is suing over claims she was injured while an inmate in a Mason County correctional center.

Glenna Brammer filed a lawsuit Sept. 3 in Kanawha Circuit Court against warden Lori Nohe and Lakin Correctional Center, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Brammer was sitting in a chair in an area of seating that was extremely overcrowded while an inmate at Lakin Correctional Center on Oct. 20, 2011, when she attempted to stand and was caused to trip on the crowded seating.

Brammer says she fell and sustained injuries, including a broken hip. The defendants are accused of negligence in failing to maintain the center in a safe condition and violating accepted safety standards.

Brammer seeks damages, court costs and interest. She is represented by the Law Offices of Donald R. Jarrell in Wayne. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Jennifer F. Bailey.
