Jancareambulance

CLAY – A Clay County man is suing over claims he was injured when an ambulance allegedly rear-ended his vehicle on the highway.

James Williamson filed a lawsuit Oct. 30 in Clay Circuit Court against Jan-Care Ambulance Inc., and Jeffery Bess, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Williamson was driving north on Interstate 79 in Clay County on Nov. 2, 2012, when his vehicle was rear-ended by a Jan-Care ambulance driven by employee Bess. The complaint states Williamson sustained injuries and his vehicle was damaged to the extent that it was declared a total loss.

Bess is accused of negligent driving in following too closely, and Jan-Care is accused of allowing Bess to operate its ambulance in a negligent manner.

Williamson seeks compensatory damages, including medical expenses and lost wages, plus interest and costs of court.

He is represented by attorney Shannon M. Bland of Bland & Bland in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Jack Alsop.
