Woman blames Fayette school board for injury in icy parking lot

FAYETTEVILLE – A Fayette County woman is suing over claims she was injured when she allegedly slipped in an icy parking lot.

Joy Ann Clark filed a lawsuit Oct. 27 in Fayette Circuit Court against the Fayette County Board of Education, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, Clark was walking in the parking lot of the defendant's Divide Elementary School in Hico on Jan. 3, 2013, when she slipped on snow and ice and injured her right knee. The defendant is accused of negligently failing to remove the snow and ice from the parking lot.

Clark seeks damages, including hospital, medical, professional, transportation, housekeeping and child care expenses.

She is represented by attorney John H. Shumate Jr. of Mount Hope. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge John W. Hatcher Jr.
