Defective humidifier filter results in lawsuit

Insuranceclaim

WINFIELD – An insurance company is suing over claims of water damage from a defective humidifier water filter.

ANPAC, as subrogee of Gregory T. Casto, filed a lawsuit Nov. 12 in Putnam Circuit Court against H&S Heating and Cooling and Honeywell International Inc., citing breach of warranty.

According to the complaint, H&S Heating and Cooling negligently installed a defective Honeywell humidifier water filter which leaked and caused water damage to Casto's property on Margaret Street in Poca on Nov. 15, 2012, and ANPAC compensated him for the more than $6,100 in damages.

ANPAC seeks the $6,100 in damages plus interest and costs of action.

It is represented by attorney Rebecca W. Wright of Rathbone Group in Huntington. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Philip M. Stowers.
