BECKLEY – A wife and husband are suing a medical facility, a physicians office and three doctors for alleged malpractice.
Carolyn Richmond, along with her husband, Reno Glenn Richmond, filed suit Dec. 12 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Raleigh General Hospital, Southeastern Emergency Physicians, Dr. Teodoro Jiminez, Dr. Jose Romero and Dr. Michael Walker, alleging medical malpractice.
According to complaint, on June 20, 2013, Carolyn Richmond was a patient at Raleigh General Hospital where she complained of being unable to urinate following a history of atrial fibrillation that required blood thinning medicine. Due to her medical condition, the suit states, the patient should have had her coagulation times checked but did not. The suit states the hospital and staff did not fully resolve the complaint of why Richmond could not urinate and released her without checking or caring for her properly.
Carolyn Richmond alleges the failure by the hospital, the physicians and the company to take care of her has resulted in injuries from improper care. Her husband, Reno Glenn Richmond, is suing for loss of consortium of his wife.
The plaintiffs seek damages in monetary form for financial and non-financial losses that are covered under the Medical Professional Liability Act. The Richmonds are represented by attorneys William Druckman and Madonna Estep of the Law Offices of Druckman & Estep. The case is under the jurisdiction of Circuit Judge John Hutchinson.
