Arizona couple says man was injured at Twin Falls State Park

CHARLESTON – An Arizona man and his wife are suing over claims he was injured on a staircase in a West Virginia state park.

Donald and Cheryll Shannon filed a lawsuit Dec. 2, 2014, in Kanawha Circuit Court against the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs were attending a reunion at Twin Falls Resort State Park in Wyoming County on June 5, 2013, when Donald Shannon tripped and fell on an exterior staircase that was unlit due to a light missing a bulb. Donald Shannon sustained injuries, and his wife is suing for loss of consortium, the suit states. The defendant is accused of negligence in the maintenance of the premises.

The Shannons are represented by attorneys Erika Klie Kolenich and Karl Kolenich of Klie Law Offices in Buckhannon. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Joann Tabit.
