CHARLESTON – A Kanawha County woman is suing over claims her attorney never gave her the money from a settlement.

Kathy Ramsey filed a lawsuit Dec. 15 in Kanawha Circuit Court against R. Michael Martin.

According to the complaint, Ramsey retained Martin to represent her in a case for damages after she was injured in a vehicular collision, and Martin settled her case for $6,500 two years ago. Ramsey says she has yet to receive any of the money despite repeated attempts to contact Martin, and she accuses him of negligence.

Ramsey seeks the money owed her plus interest and disgorgement of the attorney fees Martin took. She is represented by attorney R. Edison Hill of Hill, Peterson, Carper, Bee and Deitzler in Charleston.
