Woman says dentist sexually harassed, wrongfully fired her

Sexualharassment

CHARLESTON – A Putnam County woman is suing over claims she was sexually harassed at work and then wrongfully terminated.

Lisa Lorey, formerly Lisa Kennedy, filed a lawsuit in Kanawha Circuit Court against Ignacio Z. Bernardo Jr. DDS Inc., and Dr. Ignacio Z. Bernardo Jr. individually, citing sexual harassment.

According to the complaint, in 2010, Lorey was hired by Bernardo to work at his Kanawha County location, where she was subjected to sexual advances by Bernardo and sexually aggressive behavior. Lorey says the need to keep her job forced her to succumb to a sexual relationship with Bernardo and when she ended it, Bernardo created fictitious complaints about her work performance in order to fire her Oct. 1, 2013.

Lorey is represented by attorney Timothy J. LaFon of Ciccarello, Del Giudice and LaFon in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Louis "Duke" Bloom.
