Wayne Co. woman blames driver, Huntington for injuries

HUNTINGTON – A Wayne County woman is suing over claims she suffered personal injury due to an auto collision contributed to by a faulty traffic signal.

Whitney Mounts filed a lawsuit Dec. 18, 2014, in Cabell Circuit Court against Brittany Miller and the City of Huntington, citing personal injury when Miller's vehicle collided with her car when passing through an intersection with a faulty traffic light.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 4, 2014, Mounts was driving southbound on 8th Street near its intersection with 8th Avenue in Huntington when Miller failed to yield right-of-way and hit her car. The complaint also says the city's traffic light might have been defective or in disrepair and contributed to or caused the collision.

Mounts seeks compensatory damages.

She is represented by attorneys Kenneth P. Hicks and Juston H. Moore of Kenneth P. Hicks in Huntington. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Christopher D. Chiles.
