Woman blames company driver for wreck

WHEELING – A Valley Grove woman is suing over claims she was injured in a vehicle accident.

Chandra D. Carrington and James Carrington filed a lawsuit Jan. 8 in Ohio Circuit Court against Burns Drilling & Excavating Company and David J. Schlieper.

According to the complaint, on April 10, 2013, Carrington was operating her 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on Peters Run Road, near Oglebay Village and Wheeling Station in Wheeling. Burns Drilling & Excavating Company's employee Schlieper was operating a 2009 Mack semi truck owned by the the defendant, the suit states, when he failed to yield the right-of-way to Carrington, T-boned her vehicle and his truck struck the passenger's side of Carrington's vehicle.

Carrington alleges Schlieper was negligent in failing to keep a proper lookout, failing to yield and operating the vehicle in a reckless manner. Carrington suffered permanent injuries due to the accident, according to the suit.

Carrington seeks damages in excess of the minimum jurisdiction limits along with interest and costs. She is represented by attorney Frank X. Duff of Schrader, Byrd & Companion in Wheeling.
