CHARLESTON – A woman is suing Marquee Cinemas for injuries she sustained on its premises.
On Jan. 22, 2013, Beverly Workman went to Marquee Cinemas to see a movie and, after the movie when exiting the theater, she fell and incurred severe and permanent injuries, according to a complaint filed Dec. 23 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Workman claims the defendant had a duty to properly design, maintain, repair light or otherwise provide her with a safe place to exit the theater at the premises as would a reasonably prudent cinema complex operator under the same or similar circumstances.
The defendant breached its duties by failing to properly design, maintain, repair, light or otherwise provide Workman with a safe place to exit the theater at the premises and was otherwise negligent.
Workman claims the defendant was negligent and is liable for her injuries.
Workman is seeking compensatory damages. She is being represented by Timothy J. LaFon of Ciccarello, Del Giudice & LaFon.
The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Joanna Tabit.
