Woman says Lincoln PSD discriminated against her

Sexualharassment

CHARLESTON – Another woman is suing the Lincoln County Public Service District for discrimination and a hostile work environment.

Youlonda Massey worked for Lincoln County PSD and Ron Gregory, who was a columnist, used Lincoln County PSD equipment to draft a weekly column, according to a complaint filed Dec. 23 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Massey claims immediately after starting work at Lincoln PSD, Gregory began a course of conduct to harass her, constantly berating her and stating that he could not stand to watch her walk across the floor.

Prior to starting with Lincoln PSD, Massey had suffered a stroke, according to the suit.

Massey claims Gregory discriminated against her because of his perceiving her has having an impairment, despite the fact that she was not on light duty.

Gregory created a hostile work environment and caused Massey to suffer severe emotional and mental distress; humiliation; anxiety; embarrassment; aggravation; and annoyance and inconvenience, according to the suit.

Massey claims the defendants violated the West Virginia Human Rights Act.

Massey is seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is being represented by Mark L. French and Matthew S. Criswell of Criswell French PLLC.

In October, another woman filed a sexual harassment suit against the PSD and Gregory.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey.
