WHEELING – An Ohio resident has sued a medical clinic, alleging negligence for injuries incurred.
Julia J. Widmar of Steubenville filed a lawsuit Feb. 3 in Ohio Circuit Court against Wheeling Hospital Inc., doing business as Wheeling Clinic, alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, Widmar arrived at the defendant’s facility Nov. 7, 2013, and when she exited her vehicle, her walker became stuck in broken pavement leading to the handicapped entrance, causing her to fall to the ground.
The defendant was negligent in failing to maintain a safe walkway for patients entering and exiting the building, and to warn pedestrians of the hazard, the suit states, and Widmar suffered a broken leg, plus physical and mental pain. The complaint cites carelessness and/or recklessness in property maintenance.
Widmar seeks damages of $193,800 for medical expenses, plus attorney fees and costs. She is represented by attorney Gregory Gellner of Gellner Law Offices in Wheeling.
