HUNTINGTON – A woman is suing Save-A-Lot after she was injured while on its property.
Houchens Food Group is doing business as Save-A-Lot Grocery Store #113.
Eastern Heights Shopping Center Ltd. was also named as a defendant in the suit.
On Feb. 26, 2013, Barbara Miller was at Save-A-Lot when she caught her foot on a wrought iron stand that was protruding into the aisle, causing her to fall into the checkout counter and become injured, according to a complaint filed Feb. 25 in Cabell Circuit Court.
Miller claims Save-A-Lot negligently, unlawfully, recklessly, wantonly and willfully caused physical harm and bodily injuries when it failed to make its premises safe.
Because of the defendants' actions, Miller claims she suffered and sustained and will continue to suffer damages, including loss of enjoyment of life; pain and suffering; mental anguish; and medical expenses, according to the suit.
Miller is seeking compensatory damages. She is being represented by Shawn Bartram of Bellomy & Turner LC.
The case is assigned to Circuit Judge F. Jane Hustead.
