Nelson also has experience representing employers and companies in the oil, gas and coal industries in cases alleging personal injury and exposures to silica, benzene and other chemicals.

Nelson has served as national and regional counsel for a number of clients in asbestos litigation. In that role, he coordinates the defense of asbestos claims from initial evaluation, discovery, and trial. He takes an active role in the defense of cases across the country to coordinate and maintain a consistent defense to reduce liability and exposure. He often takes a leading role in the examination of plaintiff's medical and scientific experts.

Nelson and his team have worked with clients to investigate and understand decades of history involving numerous facilities across the United States pertinent to current and potential future claims. He has interviewed hundreds of retired safety professionals, physicians, engineers and facility managers.

He is currently active in defense steering committees designed to maintain order to dockets containing thousands of cases. In addition, he routinely represents companies and employers in the oil, gas and coal industries.
