LOGAN — A Mingo County woman filed a lawsuit against a major retailer for alleged premises liability in a 2013 incident.
Valerie Bradford of Baisden sued Wal-Mart Stores East LP on March 24 in Logan Circuit Court, claiming negligence in a 2013 accident.
According to court documents, Bradford fell while shopping at the Logan location of Wal-Mart on or about July 16, 2013, and incurred numerous bodily injuries. She cites Wal-Mart with negligence, alleging that the store and its personnel allowed a foreign substance to remain on the floor and failed to maintain the premises in a safe condition for its customers.
Alleging negligence, Bradford claims past and future pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of ability to enjoy life, permanent impairment of her ability to work, and other unspecified damages as a direct and proximate result of the defendant’s negligence in failing to properly employ, instruct, train, manage and supervise its employees.
The plaintiff seeks compensatory damages in the amount of $75,000, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, attorneys’ fees and costs.
Bradford is represented in the case by Greg K. Smith and Matthew Chandler of the Law Office of Greg K. Smith in Williamson. The case has been assigned to Judge Roger L. Perry.
