PRINCETON – A woman is suing Carmike Cinemas Inc. after she claims she was injured when she fell on its premises.
On March 30, 2013, Randi Alston was a patron at Carmike Cinemas 8 in Bluefield and got up to leave her seat in order to use the restroom when she was unable to see a sudden step and fell, according to a complaint filed March 25 in Mercer Circuit Court.
Alston claims the poor lighting conditions in the theater caused her suddenly and without warning fall and suffer injuries.
The defendant did not provide adequate lighting for safe ingress and egress inside the theater and failed to provide notice of the step, according to the suit.
Alston claims the theater had a duty to keep its place of business safe and free from hazardous conditions for its guests and failed to do so.
As a result of the defendant's actions, Alston suffered great pain of body and mind and incurred medical bills.
Alston is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. She is being represented by John S. Stacy II of the Charles A. Stacy Law Office & Personal Injury Center PLLC.
The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Derek C. Swope.
