PERSONNEL FILE: Jenkins Fenstermaker attorneys honored

HUNTINGTON – Jenkins Fenstermaker attorneys Stephen J. Golder, Lee M. Hall, Barbara J. Keefer, Thomas E. Scarr, Robert H. Sweeney and Barry M. Taylor have been selected to the 2015 West Virginia Super Lawyers list.



Each year, no more than 5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor.


In addition, Jenkins Fenstermaker attorney, Sarah A. Walling, was selected to the 2015 West Virginia Rising Stars list that is composed of no more than 2.5 percent of lawyers in the state.


Stephen J. Golder was recognized for his practice in Business and Corporate law. Golder’s practice focuses on corporate and commercial law, business organizations, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial real estate, land use and zoning law. Golder is licensed to practice in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio, as well as the U.S. District Courts for Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia.  He has previously been recognized by Best Lawyers in America in the categories of Real Estate Law, Corporate Law, Mergers and Acquisitions and Business Organizations.


Lee M. Hall, a 1990 University of Kentucky College of Law graduate, was recognized for her practice in insurance coverage, insurance defense, and bad faith defense. She was also named in Super Lawyers Top 10 List in West Virginia for 2014 and 2015. Hall serves on the WV Board of Law Examiners, is a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel and was recently named a West Virginia Bar Foundation Fellow.  She has also been recognized by Best Lawyers in America, Chambers USA, Benchmark Litigation and America’s Leading Lawyers in the area of insurance coverage


Barbara J. Keefer, an AV rated attorney, was recognized for her practice in insurance coverage, insurance defense, and bad faith defense.  Keefer is also a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter from the Insurance Institute of America.


Tom Scarr, an AV rated attorney, primarily practices in civil litigation and labor and employment law. His practice includes commercial litigation, products liability, premises liability, toxic tort, and labor and employment litigation, and defense of white collar criminal matters. Scarr is also sought after as a mediator in both simple and complicated civil matters.


Robert H. Sweeney Jr. heads up the firm’s litigation group. His practice involves litigation and counseling in business and contract matters, toxic torts, deliberate intent, and construction disputes. Sweeney has been trial counsel in every asbestos trial group in West Virginia since 2003.   He has previously been recognized by Best Lawyers in America in the areas of Construction Litigation.


Barry M. Taylor was recognized for his practice in the defense of doctors and hospitals in personal injury due to medical liability claims. His practice also includes the defense of medical product liability, and pharmacy matters.


Sarah A. Walling was recognized as a Rising Star for her insurance coverage practice. In addition to insurance coverage, Walling focuses her practice in the areas of product liability, construction litigation, and real estate. She also currently serves as President of the Cabell County Bar Association and is a member of the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia and the Defense Research Institute.


The Super Lawyers lists are published nationwide in Super Lawyers Magazines and in leading city and regional magazines and newspapers across the country.  It is a very sophisticated, detailed, and complex process to be selected into the Super Lawyers list.  Those selected have attained high peer recognition and have demonstrated some degree of achievement in their field.
