Huntington couple sues over 2001 dog attack that injured daughter

HUNTINGTON –A Huntington couple is suing two Cabell County residents over an August 2001 incident involving a dog attack.

In a lawsuit filed Dec. 8 in the Cabell Circuit Court, Bridget and David Woodyard claim their daughter Brooke Woodyard was attacked by a Dalmatian belonging to Bryan Lafon and Latoma Smith.

As a result, the Plaintiffs' daughter suffered a .5-centimeter laceration above her upper lip and a 2-inch gapping laceration under her left eye.

The suit alleges that Lafon and Smith practiced negligence by failing to control and maintain their dog.

Bridget and David Woodyard are seeking damages for emotional pain and suffering, physically scarring damage as well as medical expenses.

The case has been assigned to Judge David M. Pancake.
