Putnam couple sues N.C. company for auto accident

WINFIELD – A Putnam County couple has sued a North Carolina company and one of its employees for a 2004 automobile accident near Teays Valley.

James E. and Tonja S. Thompson filed the lawsuit Dec. 29 in Putnam Circuit Court. It claims Jimmy Le McCraw was driving a flatbed truck owned by Mt. Airy Equipment Company on W.Va. 34 near Teays Valley carelessly, recklessly and negligently on Jan. 12, 2004, when he his James Thompson in his 1996 Ford F-150.

The accident, the suit says, caused James Thompson to suffer serious and permanent physical and physiological injuries as well as physical pain and suffering, mental anguish and distress and loss of enjoyment of life.

The suit, filed by attorney Henry R. Glass III, also says Thompson has had medical and related costs.

In the suit, the couple sues the defendants jointly and severally for their losses and damages, as well as pre- and post-judgment interests, court costs and other relief.

In addition, Tonja Thompson sues for loss of services, companionship and consortium of her husband.

The Thompsons request a jury trial, and the case has been assigned to Circuit Judge O.C. "Hobby" Spaulding.
