Monongalia minor alleges bar responsible for his personal injury

Z Club in Morgantown.

MORGANTOWN -- A Monongalia minor claims he got so drunk at a Monongalia bar that he fell down 20 steps and on to his head.

Adam Corcoran claims Z Club Company allowed him to get so thoroughly intoxicated that he fell down a flight of stairs and seriously injured himself.

Filed on March 16, the suit states that on Dec. 10, 2005, Corcoran was only 18 years old. As a patron of the bar, he somehow managed to illegally be drinking. However, Corcoran's claim is that he was so intoxicated that anyone could tell and that the bartender should have followed state law and cut him off.

Corcoran fell down approximately 20 stairs and landed on his head. Immediately, Z Club bouncers discovered he was unconscious and carried him to the top of the stairs to get him medical attention.

Filed by Robert V. Berthold Jr., of Berthold, Tiano and O'Dell, the suit states that when Corcoran reached the hospital, it was discovered that he was not only underage and intoxicated, but that his blood alcohol level was .42, much higher than the legal limit of 0.08.

He also suffered more than just a concussion. He had a closed head injury, a fractured left temporal bone, partial paralysis on the left side of his face, loss of hearing, severe headaches and slurred speech.

Corcoran is seeking a trial by jury to award him $25,000 in medical bills, compensatory damages and attorney's fees.
