Kanawha Manufacturing being sued again

CHARLESTON - A Charleston-based company was hit with a second lawsuit in five days that claimed it has neglected to pay its bills.

Valley National Gases, Inc., filed the lawsuit April 18 in Kanawha Circuit Court, asserting that Kanawha Manufacturing Company still owes it money.

John A. Singleton filed the lawsuit on behalf of Valley, which, along with Rolled Alloys of Michigan, is seeking recovery from Kanawha.

Valley National Gases claims it provided gas products and services to Kanawha Manufacturing from June 15, 2005-Feb. 28 in the amount of $171,586.41.

"Defendant has failed and refused to pay the charges for the products and services," the complaint says.

Five days earlier, Rolled Alloys claimed Kanawha Manufacturing owed it $1,408,934.33, an amount determined by adding Kanawha Manufacturing's unpaid open account with late fee and interest.

Larry A. Winter of the Charleston law firm Winter, Johnson and Hill filed that lawsuit.

Kanawha Manufacturing has been in the power, coal and metals industries for more than 100 years.
