Marshall football player named in Cabell lawsuit

Hiram Moore

HUNTINGTON - A former West Virginia prep star and current member of the Marshall University football team is charged with not making payments on a loan used to purchase his car.

Universal Federal Credit Union says Hiram Moore has failed to make payments on his 2001 GMC Yukon Denali in a lawsuit filed April 10 in Cabell Circuit Court. Moore's mother Ardith is also listed as a defendant.

Hiram Moore was a standout football and basketball player at Huntington High School and will be a senior wide receiver for the Thundering Herd in the fall.

Moore entered into the contract March 21, 2005 for the sum of $22,347, of which $459.80 was required in monthly payments.

Universal Federal is attempting to recover the vehicle.

"The Plaintiff has demanded possession of said collateral, but the Defendants have failed and/or refused to surrender possession," the complaint says.

Moore, 21, caught 53 passes for 630 yards and four touchdowns on last year's 4-7 team. He led the team in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

The 6-foot, 195-pounder is listed as the expected starter in Marshall's spring football media guide.

Universal Federal is represented by Michael T. Hogan of Louisa, Ky., law firm Hogan, Mills and Robinson.

Judge John Cummings has been assigned the case.
