On the board
"I am confident in the leadership that the Board of Governors has demonstrated in the past several years and the positive direction in which the Board continues to take our University. WVU has countless success stories and is an important part of history, not only for generations of my family, but for so many families throughout West Virginia and the nation."

On drawing business to the state
"Revisit the tax structure, continue to improve education to provide an even better prepared workforce, and get leaders to start emphasizing the positives instead of the negatives about the state."
On other jobs
If I were not a lawyer, I would be "a teacher at the high school or college level."
On his favorite movie
"'Christmas Vacation.' It's funny time after time and any time of year."
On his perfect day
"A big opening-day victory in football this year."
Goodwin will assume the chairmanship of the 17-member board at the Sept. 8 meeting in Morgantown.
