HUNTINGTON - A Kentucky man blames Banana Joe's Island Party nightclub and four other defendants over an automobile accident that occurred in August 2004.
The lawsuit was filed Aug. 15 in Cabell Circuit Court by Glenn Stanley against Wesley Armstrong, Edwin and Sherri Crouse and Preferred Mail Advertising.
Stanley blames Banana Joe's for serving alcohol to Armstrong despite the fact he was already too intoxicated.
He says he has suffered property damage, lost wages, expenses for storage of his damaged vehicle and travel costs as a result of the wreck on Aug. 15, 2004.
Stanley claims he has had to travel to Cabell County for criminal proceedings and has also sustained annoyance and inconvenience.
The complaint says the Crouses owned the vehicle Armstrong was driving and entrusted it to him as a result of his employment with Preferred Mail Advertising.
"Edwin Crouse and Susan Crouse failed to train, supervise and monitor their employee, Wesley Armstrong, in his use and access to the vehicle," the complaint says.
The Banana Joe's in Charleston recently lost its liquor license because of repeated rowdy behavior and was named in a lawsuit by a former bouncer who alleges that the bar's policy of putting unruly customers in headlocks led to a man shooting his gun through the front window.
Stanley seeks compensatory damages. He is represented by Charleston attorney Letisha R. Bika.
Judge David Pancake has been assigned the case.
