CHARLESTON - A Pendleton County lawyer intent on removing Shelly Moore Capito from her office in the U.S. House of Representatives has taken out an advertisement in his local newspaper asking readers to vote against Capito on Tuesday.
Isaac Sponaugle III of Franklin purchased a $185 in the Pendleton Times in hopes that Dem. Mike Callaghan will benefit.
Sponaugle, 27, was admitted to the state Bar in 2004 and works at Sponaugle and Sponaugle.
Capito's campaign reportedly said he violated Federal Election Commission laws by not including the line "Not authorized by any political party, candidate or candidate's committee," in the ad's disclaimer.
Sponaugle was attempting to inform residents of Capito's connection to congressmen who have recently found themselves facing bad press -- Mark Foley, Tom Delay and Bob Ney.
Sponaugle has donated $2,000 to Callaghan's campaign and held a fundraiser. The ad ran Oct. 17, and Capito purchased an ad the following week responding to it.
