CHARLESTON - A Pittsburgh attorney filed 13 lawsuits on behalf of clients and another was filed recently in Kanawha Circuit Court.
David Chervenick of Goldberg, Persky and White is representing clients from West Virginia who allege asbestos exposure is to blame for their lung disease.
Another lawsuit was filed by Cindy Kiblinger of James Humphreys and Associates on behalf of Dennis and Judith Thomas, who list 45 defendants in their case.
Meanwhile, Chervenick's clients list 124 defendants.
The plaintiffs and their hometowns are: Nancy Clark, executrix of the Estate of Rodney Butcher, Charleston; Donald and Rose Christian, South Charleston; Glenn Clark, Webster Springs; Stephanie Colanko, personal representative of the Estate of Craig Costello, Weirton; Charles and Donna Elson, Wellsburg; Howard and Bonita Hatcher, Wheeling; Janet Hickey, Valley Head; Helen and Harry Lemly, Parkersburg; Howard and Patricia Pickering, Wheeling; Nina Weis, executrix of the Estate of Cecil Weis, Princeton; Betty Wolfe, executrix of the Estate of Larry Wolfe, Thornton; and Franklin Woods, Weirton.
The suits were filed Oct. 23. Job sites mentioned where asbestos exposure allegedly took place were Crucible Steel Mill, Fort Martin Power Station, Weirton Steel, Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel and Owens Illinois.
The 75-page complaint includes 18 charges against the defendants. The plaintiffs seek compensatory and punitive damages.
A visiting judge will be assigned the cases.
