* The plaintiffs are a group of welders who spent significant time welding in West Virginia, Ohio or Kentucky. They are suing nine corporations involved with the sale, manufacture and distribution of welding products. The welders claim they were exposed to and absorbed hazardous welding fumes, particularly manganese. They also claim the defendants knew of the injuries such exposure could cause were negligent in that they did nothing to mitigate it. The welders are seeking punitive and compensatory damages.
