CHARLESTON - A Kanawha County woman has filed a suit against the City of Charleston and a business after she fell and was injured on a sidewalk.
Nancy Barker filed a suit Jan. 25 in Kanawha Circuit Court, claiming the City of Charleston and Goldfarb Electric Supply Company are to blame for her injuries.
Barker was walking down Quarrier Street in Charleston on June 24, 2006, when she "tripped on a raised portion of a concrete slab, fell to the sidewalk and was injured," the lawsuit says. She suffered various injuries, including a fractured patella.
The point of her fall was on a sidewalk adjacent to property owned by Goldfarb Electric Supply Company. The suit says there were no warning signs to let pedestrians know the sidewalk was a potential hazard and the city did not properly maintain the sidewalk.
Barker seeks compensation for her injuries and damages.
Barker is represented by attorney Larry O. Ford, and the case has been assigned to Judge James Stucky.
