Kanawha woman sues Kroger for parking lot fall

CHARLESETON - A Kanawha County woman is suing Kroger after she fell in the parking lot at the Kanawha City store and broke her ankle.

Yvonne Perkins filed the lawsuit Jan. 26 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Kroger, claiming the company created an unsafe place to walk by failing to repair holes in the parking lot and failing to warn of the unsafe areas at the store located at Kanawha Mall.

The suit says that as a result of Kroger's failure to provide a safe place to walk, Perkins fell and fractured her ankle on June 7, 2005.

Since the accident, Perkins has acquired medical bills for past hospital treatment and will continue to need medical care and treatment in the future.

Perkins seeks compensatory and general damages as well as any other relief the court deems necessary. She demands a trial by jury.

Perkins is represented by Cynthia M. Ransom, and the case has been assigned to Judge Jennifer Bailey Walker.
