CHARLESTON - A Jackson County woman claims she was sexually harassed on the job.
Kristen Westfall filed a complaint Feb. 12 in Kanawha Circuit Court against MedCare Therapy Center, where she was employed. The suit also names Romell Abella, an employee of MedCare, as a defendant in the suit.
While employed by MedCare, Westfall was under the supervision of Abella. The suit says that throughout her employment, Westfall was subjected to sexual overtures and harassment as well as unfair and unwarranted criticism after Westfall repeatedly refused Abella's advances.
The suit says Abella's actions caused a hostile and intimidating work environment and that Westfall was caused severe emotional distress.
Westfall seeks punitive damages for the humiliation, embarrassment and distress she was caused.
Paul M. Stroebel represents Westfall, and the case has been assigned to Judge Tod Kaufman.
