Putnam man sues CSX over on-the-job injuries

HUNTINGTON - A Putnam County man has filed a suit against his former employer for injuries he sustained while on the job.

James VanKirk filed a suit Feb. 6 in Cabell Circuit Court against CSX Transportation, claiming he sustained injuries during the course of his employment.

The complaint states VanKirk was "exposed to excessive and harmful cumulative trauma to his hands, wrists, elbows, feet and knees due to the equipment and methods with which he performed his job."

The injuries include tendonitis, extreme joint pain and swelling in both feet and ankles. The suit says CSX was negligent by failing to make sure their employees were being adequately cared for.

VanKirk seeks to be fully compensated for his injuries and medical care.

Charles K. Garnes Jr. is representing VanKirk, and the case has been assigned to Judge David Pancake.
