* Tarter was employed by Marshall as the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Enrollment Management and was a tenured associate professor. In January 2005 she was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardic Syndrome (POTS). As a result, Tarter claims she was forced to resign her administrative position and take a pay cut. She is suing Marshall for discrimination under the West Virginia Human Rights Act and is seeking reinstatement.
