Man sues Cheat Lake store after slipping on cooking oil

MORGANTOWN - A Monongalia County man has filed a lawsuit against a local grocery store after he fell and was injured in the store.

John B. Murray filed a suit March 12 in Monongalia Circuit Court, against Nikae Foods, doing business as the Cheat Lake Shop N' Save.

Murray was a visitor in the store on March 15, 2005, when he slipped on cooking oil, which had leaked in the floor.

As a result of his fall, he suffered severe and debilitating personal injuries, which required medical attention.

The suit claims the store has a duty to keep common walkways free from hazards, such as cooking oil.

Murray sustained serious personal injuries and damages and seeks compensation, as afforded by West Virginia law.

Christopher M. Wilson is representing Murray.
