Woman sues Wal-Mart after fall at Morgantown store

MORGANTOWN - A Monongalia County woman is suing the nation's largest retailer for $74,000 after she was injured when she fell in the store.

Linda Hulvey filed a suit March 7 in Monongalia Circuit Court, naming Wal-Mart Stores as the defendant.

Hulvey was in the Wal-Mart at the Mountaineer Mall on March 7, 2005, when she slipped on a liquid between the registers and the exit door.

"This liquid had been on the floor for some time and there were no warning signs," the suit says.

Due to her fall, Hulvey injured her foot. A cashier at Wal-Mart witnessed the fall and assisted her.

As a result of Wal-Mart's negligence Hulvey sustained serious, permanent injury to her foot. She seeks $74,000 in compensation.

Joan A. Mooney is representing Hulvey.
