CHARLESTON -- Jackson Kelly and The Leon H. Sullivan Foundation will present a seminar on "The Global Sullivan Principles" on March 28.

The purpose of the seminar is to promote and teach the Global Sullivan Principles to business professionals, community leaders and educators who interact with individuals from a variety of countries, cultures and backgrounds. These principles "call on businesses to support economic, social and political justice where they do business ... thereby, helping to improve the quality of life for communities, workers and children with dignity and equality."

"We are proud to sponsor this outstanding program to help inform our business and community leaders about The Global Sullivan Principles," said Jackson Kelly CEO Al Emch. "We look forward to a most inspirational experience.

"The firm is trying to be very proactive in the issue of diversity."

The Global Sullivan Principles were created by the Rev. Leon H. Sullivan, who was born in Charleston. Sullivan was a civil rights advocate who battled discrimination in America and helped to dismantle apartheid in South Africa. The Global Sullivan Principles have been endorsed by hundreds of domestic and international companies such as General Motors, Coca Cola and Chevron.

The seminar will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. March 28 at the Charleston offices of Jackson Kelly.

Organizers say the program will benefit senior management at West Virginia companies or organizations with foreign operations or subsidiaries, companies that import or export goods or services, and U.S. subsidiaries of foreign businesses as well as individuals interested in social, economic and community development.

The seminar is free. To register or for more information, visit www.jacksonkelly.com/gsp.
