* Timothy Adkins filed the suit against Cole Construction after he was injured while working with the company. The suit says Adkins suffered a serious injury on a job site at Cross Worship Center. He claims the company is responsible for his injuries and seeks compensation to cover his damages.

* Richard Bailey filed the suit on behalf of his daughter after she was attacked by a Rottweiler owned by Jeffrey Legg and Jessica Cardinale. The dog attacked Alexis Bailey as she was riding her bike past the yard the dog was in. The dog went under the fence and attacked her. The suit says the dog's owners were in violation of West Virginia Code because they did not keep the dog under control.
Bailey seeks compensatory damages against all the defendants, for medical expenses and other damages.

* Coffman filed an asbestos suit against 56 local, national and international defendants. He claims that while working as a pipe fitter on various sites between 1952 and 2004 he was exposed to asbestos fibers. Coffman now has mesothelioma.
Coffman and his wife seek judgment against all the defendants for compensatory and punitive damages.

The suits were filed because Jack England, Clifford Maffett, John Nesselroad Jr. and Ralph Smith all now suffer from asbestos-related diseases. The suit claims the companies knew about the risks associated with working with asbestos, yet did not warn their employees. The plaintiffs seek compensatory and punitive damages against all the defendants.

* Blackwell filed a suit against O.V. Smith &Sons after he fell of the roof on one of their job sites. Blackwell severely fractured his feet and one of his hands when he fell off the rook at the former Big Chimney Elementary School. The suit says the company did not train Blackwell on how roofing or working at regulated heights, not did the company provide a guardrail or safety device around the roof. Blackwell and his wife seek compensatory damages.

* Attorney General Darrell McGraw has filed a suit against a health spa in Oak Hill, W.Va., claiming the spa is violating West Virginia Code by failing to register as a health spa. According to the suit, there is a Health Spa Rule that requires spas to register with the attorney general. In failing to do so, the spa is participating in unfair or deceptive business practices. McGraw seek to have the spa comply with the rule and to assess a civil penalty of $5,000 for each violation of the West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act.

Lonuel D. Barley and Terry Barley v. John A. Turley, M.D.

* Lonuel and Terry Barley filed a suit against John Turley, M.D., after Turley saw Lonuel Barley at Charleston Area Medical Center. Barley was brought in because he was in pain and could not feel his legs. The suit says Turley's negligence caused Barley's right leg to be amputated because Barley's problem was not addressed in a timely manner. The Barleys seek compensation for their losses, punitive damages and other relief the court deems necessary.
