Mercer couple awarded $5.3 million in doctor molestation case

PRINCETON - A Mercer County couple was awarded more than $5.3 million after the woman claimed her doctor molested her.

A Mercer Circuit Court jury ordered the doctor, Ashraf Kamel Mena, to pay the couple, identified only as Mr. and Mrs. Doe.

The suit, filed by Princeton attorney Kay Bayless, claims Mena, an endocrinologist, sexually molested the woman during a routine examination.

During the trial, two other women testified Mena also had molested them during examinations at Princeton Community Hospital. No criminal charges were pursued.

According to Bayless, the incidents all occurred between August 2001 and January 2002.

Mena resigned from Princeton Community Hospital on April 25, 2006, but he continues to practice medicine.
