Man says stay at CAMC led to permanent bump on his head

CHARLESTON - A former patient of Charleston Area Medical Center claims he was injured while admitted in the hospital and now has a permanent bump of his head.

Frank Stevens filed a suit April 20 against CAMC after he was injured when he fell.

According to the suit, Stevens was a patient at the hospital on Feb. 20, 2005. He claims the nursing staff failed to exercise care and skill while taking care of him. The suit says Stevens was assisted to a potty chair and left there unassisted, where he fell.

Stevens claims he now suffers from headaches and "an apparently permanent knot on his head," the suit says.

Stevens, through his attorney Timothy P. Lupardus, seeks damages for his injuries, compensation for the expenses he claims were caused by the employees' negligence, and compensation for court costs.

The case has been assigned to Judge Irene Berger.
