Man says he slipped on ball bearings in car lot

MARTINSBURG - A Jefferson County man has filed a suit against a Berkeley County auto dealership, claiming he was injured when he slipped on the car lot.

Carl R. Johnson filed a suit May 1 in Berkeley Circuit Court against Kent Parsons Ford, Inc.

According to the suit, Johnson was at the dealership on July 11, 2006, when he slipped on ball bearings that were left on the ground, and was injured.

The suit says the ball bearings were in the nature of a hidden danger, trap, snare, pitfall or the like. Johnson claims the dealership has the responsibility to keep the property clear of anything that might cause a risk for someone's life.

Johnson claims he has several injuries and will continue to receive medical treatment and have medical bills. He also claims he has lost income due to his injury.

Johnson seeks compensation for his injuries and court costs.

The case has been assigned to Judge David Sanders.
