Putnam woman sues Bert Wolfe, supervisor for sexual harassment

Bert Wolfe Ford is located on Charleston's West Side.

CHARLESTON - A Putnam County woman has filed a suit against her employer, claiming she suffered from sexual harassment to the point she cannot return to work.

Sandra Shaffer Wright filed a suit May 30 in Kanawha Circuit Court, against Bert Wolfe Ford and Dick Lacy, claiming her rights were violated.

According to the suit, Wright worked at Bert Wolfe Ford, and Lacy was her supervisor. Wright claims Lacy subjected her to unwelcome sexual remarks and physical contact, physical advances and threatening behavior.

"On May 16, 2007, (Wright) was disciplined by Lacy and did not return to her employment with (Bert Wolfe Ford) because she could no longer tolerate the hostile working conditions created by Lacy," the suit says.

In a two-count suit, Wright claims the hostile environment was a violation of the West Virginia Human Rights Act, and that Lacy's conduct was "outrageous and intolerable".

Wright seeks compensatory and punitive damages, lost wages and asks that she be immediately returned to work and the defendants be enjoined from such conduct.

Attorney Paul M. Stroebel is representing Wright. The case has been assigned to Judge James Stucky.
